Knowing your personality allows you to gain a better sense of who you uniquely are and helps you to thrive in life.
Each of us observably conveys our own thumbprint of ourselves that declares to others about who we are. This distinct print is known as our personality. Our personality consists of traits and characteristics that tell us why we behave a certain way, identifies our strengths, and impacts our overall sense of well-being. By assessing our personality it allows us to realize and understand our true essence. In doing this we are better able to improve ourselves and living more Christ-like. It has been found that in order to have a life that is functional; it must be in alignment with our personality, our values, and the way that we experience life. This is because the core aspect of our personality governs our mental functioning that classifies our identity as either normal or abnormal.
We are all born with biological genetic codes or personality traits that ascertain the way our brain develops and how our personality communicates itself to others. These inherent traits reveal themselves at birth and remain uniform throughout our lives. They objectify how we think, how we act, how we think, and how we institute our personality characteristics. Personality traits generate our involuntary habits that facilitate the course our lives will take. They decide our way of gathering data and how we draw our conclusions from this information. Traits influence our word selection, how we learn and even our aptitude to learn. Additionally, our personality traits launch the electrochemical informational flow that takes place in the brain. This area is apparently responsible for our overall brain functioning and its normal neurobiological reactions.
On the other hand, there are learned parts of our personality that are the characteristics of our behavioral patterns. These characteristics develop by what we have learned. They reflect our lived history and what makes us uniquely individual. Characteristics are responsible for the development of eccentricities, comfort zones, habits, and faulty behavioral patterns. As a result of this, personality characteristics are indicated through our emotional reactions for the world to see.
As we combine personality traits and characteristics, we have a categorical formula to better understand ourselves and to identify why we are uniquely different. By knowing our involuntary patterns that necessary for us to function and survive; we are better able to foster better coping mechanisms to deal with life’s challenges. This organizing principle relies on evaluating ourselves to help us to maintain a sense of reality and to gain insight into our spiritual self. We may facilitate our capacity to thrive by taking a personality assessment. My favorite is the Spiritual Gift Inventory.
