Guilt is overrated! From Stephani's blog at www.solascoaching.com.
Isn’t it amazing how much guilt we carry on a daily basis? Let’s get rid of it and give ourselves permission to be human! Here’s a list to get started and feel free to add your own in the comments section after this post!
1. It’s okay…to sometimes wish you could gag and sedate your children (of any age) just to get an hour of peace and quiet.
2. It’s okay…to say no to requests that burden your schedule.
3. It’s okay…to say yes to new experiences even if they don’t seem like ‘you’ initially. You might learn something about yourself.
4. It’s okay…to screen phone calls from people that you don’t want to talk to right this minute. If you’re paying for voicemail you might as well let someone enjoy it.
5. It’s okay…to take a ‘daycation’ from your job, your family, your partner, and just do something for yourself. They will all survive, promise!
6. It’s okay…to move people out of your life who don’t make you happy or who drain your emotional energy.
7. It’s okay…to not give second chances to people who have betrayed you.
8. It’s okay…to think you’re awesome. The only people who will be bothered by it are those who wish they had your confidence.
9. It’s okay…to buy yourself flowers. You deserve them.
10. It’s okay…to not have a spotless house because you’ve been busy having a life. After you die, do you want “Her house was always so clean!” to sum up your existence?
11. It’s okay…to not be married at any age. Better to be a contented single than a miserable married.
12. It’s okay… to not want children. With 7 billion people on the planet the continuation of the human race doesn’t rest on your shoulders despite what your family might tell you at Christmas dinner and your value as a person is not tied to your reproductive abilities or choices.
13. It’s okay…to live life on your own terms even if it doesn’t fit with the norm or anyone else’s expectations. At the end of the day, what matters is that you like your life!
14. It’s okay…to turn down a date with someone who doesn’t make your heart sing in favour of sweatpants, Lifetime television, and a bubble bath. (But it’s also okay to accept a date with someone who isn’t your type just to open yourself to possibilities!)
15. It’s okay…to not feel guilty about not feeling guilty!
Guiltless and loving it,
Stephani
