Keep you and your health a priority and everyone benefits!
Are you on your to-do list? It is so easy to let the demands of daily life, family, work, friends, and other commitments take precedence in your life. We often say “yes!” without even thinking about how it will impact our personal time. While shortchanging our selves, our goals and even our health to meet the needs of others often feels like the right thing to do, it isn’t a good long-term strategy. Making your self a priority isn’t selfish – it’s necessary.
How can we start to say “YES!” to ourselves more? It’s not easy. We need to start setting limits and making compromises with others for our time, talents and energy. Making your exercise and yoga routine a priority can provide balance in multiple areas of you life. Try making your practice a priority by:
-Putting it down in ink or iCal and make it an ongoing commitment to yourself
-Set out your workout or yoga clothing the night before class. Put it in a spot you can’t miss…the bathroom, kitchen or even the floor of your closet.
-Hydration is key to our health. Select a bottle that represents you (be it a favorite color, design, or quote), fill it and put in the fridge before you go to bed. You may even want to put a Post-It note on the bottle to remind yourself of the time of your class.
-Grab a friend, neighbor or co-worker and get moving together. A sense of community and relationships with others is key to our sense of well-being.
-Sign-up for the studio’s newsletter or their e-mail class reminders.
-Think about how good you feel after yoga, cardio, zumba or pilates. Why wouldn’t you want to have that feeling as much as possible?
Keeping you and your health a priority is a skill worth practicing, developing and honoring.. Make yourself a priority – it’s good for you and good for everyone who depends on you.
