Failing Forward!

How can you overcome fear of failure?
Fear of Failure can hold us back. It will create inertia; we will be spinning, afraid to take a step. What if I do something I have never done before and it turns out to be a mistake?
When we start something new there may be mistakes. As a matter of fact, it is pretty certain that there will be mistakes, it is part of learning. I remember at school studying a foreign language, how long it took to first learn the vocabulary and then create sentences. I made a ton of mistakes, over and over again. Over time, they became less and less and I had a new skill, one I was very proud of.
Is it our desire for perfection that creates this fear of failure? If we fail, if we make mistakes, it means we are not perfect? Realize that perfection is a construct of the past. Somebody, maybe your parents, your teachers decided what was perfect. As you mature and evolve, perfect is an elusive goal, it grows as you grow. So instead of trying to be perfect, accept that you are moving towards perfect. And each perceived mistake helps you become more perfect, because it creates growth, insight and ultimately wisdom.
Have fun in your becoming, make mistakes and celebrate them as you celebrate your achievements.
