The Pig or Swine:
the other day I heard a statement that puzzle me, it was stated that for a long time we had recognized the dog is man best friend, however a different assertion of man’s best friend has emerged. What I heard was the pig is man’s best friend. I was curious to know why the change asserted by some. While going up in the South, the pig and all its parts were considered a delicacy and a need. I can visually remember the slaughter and consumption of all parts. The kinship and consumption of the swine was related only to that of the Native Americans affection for the Buffalo.
My hypothesis about the swine relationship to black Americans history past. I believe that certain consumption of these animal parts, was discarded by the master,and was used by blacks, for a staple food source. I can remember my mother and friends cleaning chitterlings, making pork sausage, bacon, hog head cheese and as a child I was given a tea with no explanation as to why I should drink it. I persisted and the answer i was given,"hog hoof tea; from the hoof of the animal. It was suppose to kill anything inside the body that was needed. This date in this time we have learned that discarded things, once free, will never see the light of day again without a price.
My curiosity led me to the pigs or swine relationship to the criminal justice system, a forensic entomologist, a part of the criminal justice family deals with decomposition of bodies after death. Decomposition is very important in answering some of the questions, regarding certain homicide cases. The pig or swine body is similar to our flash texture. The entomolgisit study of decomposition of a body can help in human death investigation. I learned, during this research at the top five stages that are related to decomposition of the body. The five stages are, fresh, bloat, active decay, a advanced or post decay and dry remains.
The years I’ve been on this planet and the things I have seen, read about, news media attention about, for some young enterprising person, this field of study, will help to alleviate unknown and un-closed cases.
