Lead Like an Egyptian

History Shows that leadership begins with fellowship. If you engage their purpose you empower their potential.
In my Keynote “Lead from the Trenches” I make the case that the most successful leaders are the ones who work along side of their employees to achieve the goals. This has proven to be true in my own career. By engaging a unified purpose the momentum of success is created.I recently was watching the History Channel when a show came on about Ancient Egypt. I was intrigued when I saw the “Lead from the Trenches” principles demonstrated before me. Sneferu was the most prolific builder of Egyptian monuments. He created more amazing structures than any other ruler in Egypt. What I found most interesting is that we know he referred to “every man he met as Brother or Friend.” He built the pride in his kingdom and engaged the purpose of his people to make it the greatest kingdom the world has ever known. By building the pride of his people and then staunchly defending “their” kingdom, he created a loyalty that literally built the foundation of the kingdom.
The Lesson of Sneferu is that treating employees as comrades united in a common cause, you engage pride and purpose and greatness is achieved. Today we must realize that each person has their own sense of purpose. By talking with them about who they are and being genuinely interested you then create an atmosphere of security and positivity.
In life everyone wants to be loved. Be it romantic love or just the respect of another, everyone wants it. By positively reinforcing who they are and unifying their goals with your own then you build your own legendary monuments.
