Create an inspired vision, develop a map, take inspired action, and celebrate your success.
4 Keys to goal attainment are: creating an inspired vision; developing a well-organized map; moving through actions steps while intrinsically motivated; and celebrating your success which sets up future success.
Create an inspired Vision. Your vision is an umbrella that covers your life. An inspiring vision motivates you to make it through tough stuff and uncovers creativity that lies within you. People fail because they don’t know what they want to do. Devoting time to creating your vision helps ensure your success. A life vision encompasses all aspects of your life. It is multifaceted and when written down could be a few paragraphs or several pages. Create your vision by getting quiet, allowing intuitive guidance, conducting research, completing “test runs” where you try different things, and creating affirmations around living an inspiring vision. Your vision is a “living document”. It is changeable. As you grow and change, your vision will grow and change. Review your vision every few months- or at least once a year.
Develop a well-organized map. Develop an outline, mind-map, and/or a table with action steps for the main element of your vision statement. Include deadlines and timelines. Write down the skills you have, the skills you need, and the pieces that you can delegate. List the people you need to make your plan happen. Consider: Who do you know? Who do you need? Who do you need to know? Create a list of resources defining the following: time, money, information, tangibles/intangibles. Ask: What do you have? What do you need to get? What will it take?
Move through action steps while intrinsically motivated. Intrinsic motivation comes from within. Intrinsic motivation is neither the carrot nor the stick. Tapping your inner motivation will see you through to goal completion. Intrinsic motivation helps you keep your eyes on the big picture. Set mini goals so you can see progress. Create positive affirmations for motivation such as:” I am motivated from within”. If you are not intrinsically motivated, you may be pursuing the wrong goal, the wrong project, and/or the wrong timing. If this is the case, is it possible to change or shift perspective or change or shift your goals? Your vision should not feel like a “grind” all of the time. Though there are times to move forward and “do it…no matter what” and there are times to back off. Trust your intuition to guide you in your decisions around real desire as opposed to something you think you “should” do. Ultimately, stay organized throughout your action steps. Record everything.
Celebrate your success and move to future success. Celebrate your accomplishments and see how your accomplishments naturally move to something else or become something else. Allow and stay open to the idea that you are always growing. Can your project or goal be repurposed into a new success? Be confident, success breeds future success. Be confident, failure breeds future success. Yes, learning takes place with both success and failure. All of life is a lesson.
Follow these 4 keys to goal attainment: Create an inspired vision, develop a well-organized map, take action steps with intrinsic motivation, and celebrate your success. You will find yourself checking your goals off your list and enjoying the process.
