How to Succeed When Everything Changes

Learn how to breathe and enjoy life even when you feel out of your depth.
Have you ever felt like a fish out of water? You are suddenly thrown into a new environment and nothing is as it was. This can feel disconcerting and exciting all at once. A friend of mine who just moved her family from Melbourne, Australia to Switzerland says she feels this way.
I often feel like a fish out of water when I travel. My routine is ‘upset’. Flexibility and adaptability need to be my friends if I am going to embrace the moment and go with the flow. Sometimes I embrace the moment and enjoy it, and sometimes I fight against the moment and suffer. It’s funny how we can create our own reality by our attitude and actions.
I like my routine, and this can be my downfall if I am not willing to drop it for love. If we are here to ground and express love, then love may require that we take a detour or make a pit stop at a moment’s notice. Love may require that we drop the way things have always been done and try something new. Love may require that we operate on faith and trust and ignore the opinions of others, however well intentioned.
Sometimes we can only see the wonder of our heart-based choices in hindsight. No one may ‘get us’ when we take the path of the heart. Looking outside of oneself for confirmation and approval is usually a recipe for disaster.
Do you have or know a story about following the heart? Sometimes, the smallest thing we share can have the greatest impact on another. What can you share about being and living from the heart?
