Getting Better!

Learn what it means to get better at life and do what you love doing.
Getting better at life is a journey, not just one more burden to check-off your daily list of things to do. Better is a not an end in itself, rather, it part of becoming. Becoming more of you, that is. It is the fruit of your daily labor of doing things that reflect YOU. When you choose the journey, it.is.easier! Being who you are is following the path of least resistance. Following others’ expectations, “I shoulds”, “I ought to’s” or guilt is following the path of most resistance. The consequences are that you don’t get to be yourself and do the things that you most desire; And you have little left to give to others.
Why get better? Better means more of what is you, less of what is not you. Do you want more of the things in your life that cause you unease, a lack of peace, or worse? It is more work and a heavier burden to remain sour, do what you are told, and sleepwalk through life than it is to work toward self-discovery and live for what you were meant for.
Here are a few things to get you started on the road to being ‘better’
1. Limit your screen time – turn off your TV, and [aside from work] your internet (for a week, a month, a year, you pick) and find something else to do with the time you have gained.
2. Read to change your life – Don’t know where to start try 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey, or The Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey. Try out some (or all) of the ideas that you read.
3. Set a goal to find out by the end of the year what you really want to do with your life. Start doing it!
4. Choose something in your daily routine and do it differently. Notice what is different about yourself as you do this. Are you uncomfortable, out of sorts, at peace, learning, or something altogether different?
