Many people with ADHD prefer not to take any of the medications that boost executive memory function like Ritalin, Adderall, or others.
ADHD can be managed in a variety of ways. In some cases changing parts of the diet can be helpful. Combining diet, sleep and exercise can be an effective way to manage the day to day ADHD issues.
While we have access to all kinds of foods many of these foods are lacking in the quality of vitamins that we need.
Vitamins can be used to help increase hormone levels in the brain that help reduce the ADHD symptoms.
1. Vitamin E, is one of the vitamins that is thought to increase brain function.
2. Vitamin B6 and C. Vitamin C is thought to help increase the production of dopamine. Dopamine is used to help make connections in the brain. If connections aren’t made then things like focus are difficult to maintain. B6 is associated with energy, your level of energy that you have and how alert you are.
3. Iron is another core component of dopamine production. Getting the right levels of iron is important and this should be done through the foods we eat.
4. Magnesium is another vitamin that enhances neurotransmitter function.
5. Zinc is a neurotransmitter regulator and may improve the effect of certain ADHD medications.
