Finding your Passion.

We all have our gift, that thing in life that come naturally, and it makes us feel alive when we do it. Find out how to find yours.
In a recent email, I was asked …“I’m just not sure where my passion lies. What advice would you give to a young person trying to find their way this huge world?”
What’s interesting, is this email was from someone who just graduated from college, but I hear this same question from executives who been working for over 20 years. One day, they realize, I have no idea what I am passionate about.
As someone who believes success and doing what you are passionate about go hand in hand, humbly, here were my thoughts…
Here’s what I have learned … We all have our gift, that thing in life that come naturally, and it makes us feel alive when we do it.
You are already taking that first step in figuring out what this is, simply in the realization there is something more for you (which not everybody does), which there certainly is … and chances are, you already probably have a good idea of what that thing is.
Unfortunately, one of the major challenges that may keep us from doing what we should in life, is fear. Fear causes us to think things need to be hard, when in fact, when you are doing what you are supposed to be doing in life, although it includes work of course, there is an good energy behind it. We just get freaked out when we start doing what we love and things start working out … we tend to self-sabotage and run away from our gift/passion instead of making a career out of it. It’s funny (and kind of ridiculous) how we are more accepting of bad things than good.
One lesson I have learned over time is that things in life are supposed to work for us, not against us, and if you pay attention, and accept the good things, you will see them all around you … and acceptance of good brings more good. I promise that.
So, regarding your question about what you are passionate about, I would suggest you ask yourself this: You know those days when you are about to go to sleep and you have that sense of comfort, happiness, you feel ALIVE and you think to yourself, “today was an amazing day!”
Think about what you did that day that made it amazing. I am sure your answer to what your passionate about is there … and when you find it, you will realize it was there all along.
P.S. You are supposed to feel alive everyday, so, once you find out what you’re passionate about, keep doing it .. and when things start working out, remember, they are supposed to.
