Look At The Clouds - What Do You See?

Speak your own truth and be your authentic self.
Lucy: Aren’t the clouds beautiful? They look like big balls of cotton. I could just lie here all day and watch them drift by. If you use your imagination, you can see lots of things in the clouds’ formations. What do you think you see, Linus?
Linus: Well, those clouds up there look to me look like the map of the British Honduras on the Caribbean.
Linus: That cloud up there looks a little like the profile of Thomas Eakins, the famous painter and sculptor. And that group of clouds over there…
Linus: …gives me the impression of the Stoning of Stephen. I can see the Apostle Paul standing there to one side.
Lucy: Uh huh. That’s very good. What do you see in the clouds, Charlie Brown?
Charlie Brown: Well… I was going to say I saw a duckie and a horsie, but I changed my mind.
Do you ever feel like all you see are duckies and horsies? It’s so easy to silence ourselves when we feel intimidated by others’ insights, successes or aspirations. If we compare ourselves to the way others view the world, it’s tempting to squelch our own thoughts and fabricate perspectives that seem to be deeper, more profoud, seemingly more intelligent – but not true to who we are.
The truth is that MOST people see duckies and horsies; and are a bit repelled by lofty, pretentious visions to which they cannot relate.
So what matters? What most effectively engages you with others in this world? Being real. Being you.
Personally, I think Linus was just trying to show off. But Charlie Brown was being real. Who do people connect with – someone who seeks to impress from a higher plane? Or someone who is genuine and speaks from a place of authenticity? Never be afraid to be yourself. Look up at the clouds and, without hesitation, boldly share whatever it is that YOU see. There is no right or wrong answer – there is only your truth. You will make the greatest difference in the lives of others and be most at peace with youself, if you always live within and speak your own truth.
