This award-winning book covers the basics of childhood sexual abuse in a 'reader friendly' notebook format. Praised by professionals and survivors.
“Childhood Sexual Abuse 101 – Not An Elective” was written upon completion of five years of workshops and research at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, OH. The female prison system reports that 85% of its population are victims of incest and other childhood sexual trauma.
What started out as a small group of thirty-five women, grew into an empowering platform for over two hundred and fifty women who found their voices and shared their pain with others through the follow-up documentary “The Prisoner Inside”. The chapters: Why does the Pain Last So Long; What to do with all that anger; What survivors need from counselors; and The stages of an abused child; all are laid out honestly and in a manner that is informative and instructive.
Material taken from other sources (churches, parent groups, youth groups, etc.) solidify the fact that childhood sexual abuse forever affects relationships, spirituality, family and one’s sense of experiencing love.
This book has been on the suggesting reading list of several hospitals and universities.
