Returning to Wholeness: A New Way to Meet Old Patterns

Discover a transformative approach to breaking self-sabotaging habits by reconnecting with your inner wholeness and making aligned, empowered choices.
Have you ever found yourself frustrated by the same old habits, wondering why it’s so hard to change—even when you know what’s good for you?
You promise yourself to eat healthy, meditate, or speak your truth, but instead, you fall back into patterns that leave you feeling stuck. You skip your exercise routine. You choose foods that leave you feeling heavy. You avoid the difficult conversation you know you need to have.
And then, the voice of the inner critic kicks in:
“I should have known better.”
“Here I go again.”
“I’m slipping. I’m falling. I’m failing.”
This cycle of frustration and self-criticism can feel endless. But what if there were another way to meet these moments—one that feels sustainable, empowering, and deeply transformative?
The Inner Critic’s Voice
It’s so common to respond to these moments by berating ourselves, criticizing our choices, and pushing harder. The inner voice tells us to:
Come up with better time management strategies.
Sign up for more accountability buddies.
Investigate why we keep doing this and strategize how to stop next time.
While these efforts may spark initial motivation, they often miss the root of the problem. The harder we work to fix what’s “wrong” out there, the further we disconnect from what’s right within.
A New Way Forward: Observing Without Judgment
What if, instead of criticizing or striving, you simply stepped back and observed?
This shift in perspective can bring immediate relief and open new possibilities for transformation. The practice is simple: observe your patterns without judgment.
Instead of labeling yourself as failing or broken, you approach your habits with curiosity:
“Oh, look, I’m avoiding what I know serves me again.”
“Huh, there’s that old habit I thought I’d overcome.”
“Hmm, interesting.”
By stepping into this neutral, value-free space, you free yourself from the weight of self-criticism. Observing without judgment allows you to see your patterns clearly—not as a reflection of your worth, but simply as they are.
The Key to Real Transformation: Touching Wholeness
Underneath the layers of self-doubt and frustration, there is a part of you that remains untouched by your struggles. This part is unjudged, untainted, and whole.
It may not feel accessible in moments of frustration, but this wholeness is always within you. The counterintuitive but transformative step is to connect with this inner essence before taking action to fix or change your life.
Here’s how:
Pause and allow yourself to settle into the heart of your true essence.
From this space, observe the part of you that feels broken, struggling, or striving.
Ask yourself:
How does wholeness meet this moment?
How does wholeness respond here?
What choice does wholeness make? What does it say yes to? What does it say no to?
When you act from this space of wholeness, your choices feel aligned, not forced. Transformation happens not through striving, but through reconnecting with the powerful, unshakable essence already within you.
