Learn to Honour Your Heart

Have you felt a subtle tug from your heart?
A calling from deep within, a longing for meaning, purpose, self-expression and fulfilment?
A transformative journey begins when we tune into our heart’s intelligence. Modern science is beginning to understand and explain the enabling and healing role of our hearts.
One must learn to listen to one’s heart. Pay attention to it. It is subtle. This source of clarity and peace is a gentle whisper beneath our daily chatter.
Until we tap into it, life can feel shallow, and spirituality can seem distant and intellectual.
Let us explore how we can discern it.
Find Your Heart:
Hidden behind the chatter of our minds, beyond the turmoil of emotions, lies the heart. The essence of who we are, waiting patiently for us to listen.
But accessing it requires slowing down, being gentle with ourselves, and embracing vulnerability. It’s about letting suppressed emotions be felt fully, healing past wounds, and rediscovering love’s true essence.
Your Heart hides behind the Fog:
Behind your calculating mind. Behind those assessments, self-doubt and comparisons, behind the curtain of thoughts.
Beyond the turmoil of feelings like hurt, sadness, anxiety, and fear.
Underneath the subtle sensations, that you sense when you go inwards with patience and kindness.
The fast pace of modern routine life won’t let you sense its subtle presence. You’d need to slow yourself down, becoming gentler and softer.
Unhealed heartbreaks of the past won’t let you open yourself to it:
You will have to heal enough to trust love and it’s possibilities once again. When you are healed, you will be innocent like a child- willing and vulnerable to love with all your heart – deeply and completely, putting everything at stake. With a wide-open heart.
Heal yourself:
Suppressed emotions or feelings that you are avoiding, that perhaps you are not yet ready to confront, will not let you go deeper. You’ll have to learn to lovingly be with your feelings and feel them fully.
“When you are able to let them be, they will let you be.”
“If you can feel them, you can heal them.”
Heal yourself more if you still think love is about having someone.
If you’re still holding back from love in caution. Wondering, how much of yourself to give, and how much to hold back then there is some more healing due.
Have to learn to Honour Yourself:
You are more than the stories you tell about yourself. More than engaging thoughts, feelings and concerns.
You will have to bring yourself to be true to yourself and get off the social bandwagon. Shift to living from your heart.
Try these steps to guide you to your heart:
1) Slowdown into Tranquility
Sit down and let everything become slow. Relax. Let there be ease and comfort.
Gently open your mind to pure curiosity.
Notice the chatter, thinking or worrying.
Notice and release your concerns with kindness. Embrace vulnerability. Suspend your thinking. Suspend all effort.
2) Feel
Feel your feelings fully, let them be. Suspend the need to understand or change them.
Notice your emotions. Notice the inner sensations that they cause.
Feel the physical sensations accompanying your raw emotions.
Sit with the sensations, feel them till they’re gone. Let them take their time.
3) Let go
Just for now, surrender your intention and will.
Soften your gaze, and let go of the need to focus.
Release to the expansive spaciousness within.
Settle down in the soft spaciousness of your effortless breath.
Relax. Let go of time and effort.
4) Open yourself
Become restful in your gentleness
Become calm and notice your inner serenity.
Notice the silence. Pay attention to it.
Embrace vulnerability.
5) Sense
Let love in. Open your heart and sense the presence of love.
Appreciate the beauty of your inner stillness.
Notice the energy of aliveness in you.
Notice the presence that you are.
When you let yourself become slow, calm, and restful, comfortable in the spaciousness of your soft and effortless breath, settled in the beauty of your own Silent and Still Nothingness, you will sense your spiritual heart, as yourself.
There will be kindness for everything and everyone. A spontaneous urge to serve for no reason. You feel alive, free and Lit up with the beauty and energy of being.
Sometimes while you are still learning to settle down in your heart, its peaceful experience may slip away momentarily. Again, you find yourself out of its natural, beautiful harmony, judging and comparing yourself to others. When you have lost the beauty of oneness the anxious concerns for yourself may return.
But now you know how being in your heart feels and the new magical possibilities it opens. You will know how to find it again.
