The Real You Is The Achiever Within

Has anyone else doubted themselves despite so much hard evidence to the contrary?
Imposter syndrome—it’s that nagging feeling that you’re not as capable as others think you are, like you’re just faking it, and it’s only a matter of time before everyone finds out. You’re sure of it.
It’s difficult, isn’t it? You’ve worked hard to get where you are, yet this constant doubt undermines your achievements. The frustrating part is that no matter how much you accomplish, that voice inside keeps telling you it’s not enough, that you don’t really deserve the success you’ve earned.
Here’s the truth: almost everyone feels this way at some point. Also true: we should question it more. We should push back. As life coach and podcaster Frank Macri asks, why is it so common to believe in this self-doubt when we don’t question this judgment of ourselves at that moment? Why don’t we flip it? The real you is your future self, that has gone on to do great things, and the current you is actually the imposter. The real you is the person that has been achieving great things and will continue to achieve.
The next time imposter syndrome sneaks up on you, recognize that those feelings don’t define your abilities. Recall all of the hard things that you have accomplished, all of the successes that you’ve stacked up. Instead of letting self-limiting beliefs hold you back, use them as a sign that you’re growing and pushing beyond your comfort zone. Write down your successes, no matter how small, and revisit them whenever self-doubt creeps in. Celebrate your wins and remind yourself that your achievements are real—you’ve earned your place and deserve to be where you are.
