The Perimenopause Cause

Perimenopause vs Menopause
Women, it’s true:
We get better with age.
However, there are a few changes that we’ll need to take note of along the way.
I’ve found my forties to be a joy. Empowered, aware, sure. Yet, one day last year, after noticing a ‘here and there’ trend of mood fluctuations, feeling warmer more-so than cooler on average, formerly lush eyebrows becoming a little less so, as well as a few grays kissing my temples, not to mention one husband on the rollercoaster ride of all of this alongside me, I started to realize:
Oh, this is Perimenopause.
Still having a cycle, this wasn’t anything I’d ever thought was occurring one moment prior to this ‘aha’ moment.
I started doing research, asking women in my family, as well as asking my physician. Most everyone offered a series of perhaps, and maybes, and flat out uncertainty.
Interestingly, and sadly, there are few resources available in regards to Perimenopause, and fun fact; Perimenopause can last anywhere from ten to fourteen years. Menopause is the end of a woman’s cycle, after one consecutive year without a cycle, and all of that which we experience prior, including hot flashes, is actually Perimenopause.
Needless to say, a conversation needs to be had.
It’s been encouraging to see ladies like Gwyneth Paltrow, as well as Drew Barrymore start the conversation; I’m happily joining in.
