SEEKING HAPPINESS IN LIFE? START BY DEFINING YOUR OWN ASPIRATIONS AND GOALS.

Have you ever considered that knowing your aspirations and goals in life could bring you one step closer to a more fulfilling life?
Remember this equation that I provided in my first post (“What is coaching”), explaining my own definition of coaching?
Aspirations and Goals + Mindset – Roadblocks + Plan + Action = Happiness / Fulfillment
Let’s dive into the first part of this equation: “Aspirations and Goals.”
Without clear goals, it’s challenging to know what you’re working towards or how you can improve your current situation. Are you longing for more quality time with your children, contemplating a career shift, or aiming to improve your physical fitness? It is hard to aim and hit a target when you don’t even know what the target is.
As a busy working woman and a mother of two small children, I’ve come to realize that the foundation of my happiness lies in clearly understanding my own aspirations and goals.
Why is that, you might ask?
In today’s fast-paced and multifaceted world, it’s all too easy to lose yourself among the myriad roles we strive to excel in. Whether it’s being the perfect mother, an outstanding employee or entrepreneur, a loving wife, a supportive friend, or a dutiful daughter (the list goes on and on), the pursuit of perfection can often leave us feeling lost and overwhelmed. We look in the mirror and see a lesser version of ourselves, far removed from whom we aspire to be.
It’s crucial to take a moment to step back and reflect upon the following: Have you ever truly dedicated time to think about what your aspirations in life are and, as a result, set clear goals for the different areas of your life?
There are different ways to go about this. One of them is identifying what’s troubling you.
Take my own experience as an example. About a year ago, I began to feel a lack of fulfillment in my career. This feeling didn’t emerge overnight; it had been building up over the years, becoming increasingly apparent. This dissatisfaction was my “bug,” impacting every facet of my life, from my relationships to my overall well-being, making me irritable and short-tempered—essentially, turning me into someone I didn’t want to be.
By asking myself what was bothering me the most, what was causing me to lose sight of myself, and what aspects of my life were making me unhappy, I was able to gain clarity on my aspirations and goals. This clarity felt like a weight being lifted off my shoulders, providing a clear direction for the changes I needed to make, particularly in my career.
Achieving this clarity was the beginning of taking control of my own happiness and fulfillment.
