Fear & Self-Doubt are challenging to everyone, but it is what you do to block their power of control when you push through to success.
Words can be beautiful, inspiring, hurtful, and, most importantly, powerful, especially when they are coming from inside you. Putting your aspirations, hopes, and plans into words makes them far more tangible than thoughts in your head. These words can spur you to action, and with the right words, you can change your life and the lives of the people around you.If you want to succeed in life and achieve your goals, you have to realize the power of your words and actions – but even more important is to learn to infuse your words and actions with power. Many people mistake confidence with power, and even though confidence is crucial to success in your life and in your personal and professional relationships, it’s not the kind of power I am talking about. Confidence is often governed and influenced by factors beyond our control.
But the power I am interested in is an internal force, consistent and growing. It structures your thoughts, makes your words more impactful, and makes your actions more efficient. It’s the kind of power that lets you harness your full capabilities and helps you tap into your inner, dormant strength, allowing you to succeed or make a tangible difference in any endeavor you turn your attention to.
That power stems from a belief – The belief that you can elevate to a higher level of being and improve everything about yourself beyond what you currently think is possible. Developing your mindset around this belief can infuse you with the right kind of power. It also empowers your feelings and elevates your actions and words to a higher plane, where you start seeing a new world of opportunities.
And you don’t have to make this journey alone.
I can be your guide to this higher plane of self-awareness and growth. I can help you understand your unique mindset, thought process, strengths, weaknesses, and full range of capabilities and equip you with the full arsenal for your transformation. Once you have transformed and have reached the plateau of fulfillment and satisfaction, you will have the power in your words and actions that can help you transform your life and relationships for the better.
Every human being is unique and has their own set of challenges when they strive to attain this power. These challenges stem from various places, both personal and environmental. However, one challenge that every individual has to overcome is fear and self-doubt. Learning how to do so may not infuse you with the power you covet right away, but it can set you on the right track.
Fear and Self Doubt
Life is all about making choices, both right and wrong. You cannot make the right choice every time, but it’s critical that you make a choice, or it will be made for you. That’s how fear and self-doubt derail you from the path of fulfillment and success; they prevent you from making choices.
They prevent you from living your life on your own terms, and instead of getting a foothold in life, you continue to be a leaf blowing over the currents of fate and circumstances. The fear and self-doubt mindset sinks you and pushes you down, increasing the distance between where you currently are and the higher level of being you are striving towards. It’s important to understand that fear is natural and ingrained in our very biology, and on its own, it’s neither a force for evil nor for good. It’s merely an evolutionary response, and how you channel it decides whether you are likely to succeed or fail in life. People who have learned to handle fear in a constructive manner can prevent it from interfering with their actions and can even leverage it to improve their decision-making process.
One of the vilest “off-springs” of fear is self-doubt. With unchecked and uncensored fear taking hold of your psyche and mindset, you are most likely to succumb to self-doubt, and it will poison every decision you take and every move you make. It prevents you from reaching for your dreams, following your passion, and becoming the best version of yourself.
So, it’s crucial to treat fear as a powerful force. You can’t eradicate it, but with the right approach, you can help it work for you instead of against you.
Step #1-Accepting something as true without objective analysis and proof is the
basic definition of belief. This covers everything from religious, social, and moral beliefs to real-world and scientific beliefs. Beliefs thrive in the absence or misunderstanding of data. Humanity believed that all swans were white until the discovery of the first black swan in 1697. Understanding what your beliefs are and how they influence your behavior and decision-making can be an important part of understanding yourself. A good exercise you can do is to list all your beliefs, including the hidden ones that you are not comfortable sharing with anyone. Under every belief you list, cite a reason why. It can be something your parents believed in, something you have always heard in your society, or your personal experiences. This can help you identify many beliefs that you are simply clinging to out of habit and have no basis in reality.
Now, identify all the beliefs that are holding you back, negatively affecting your decision-making, or preventing you from doing something positive. These are the beliefs you have to cross out of your list and your life. It’s not easy, especially if it’s something you grew up with. But acknowledging it and identifying it as a negative influence will bring it out from your subconscious to your radar, and you will start detecting its impact on your life, making it easy for you to get rid of it and its negative influence.
Step #2- Talking to yourself, whether you do it out loud or in your mind, in specific words is one of the most human things to do. And like all human interactions, you should take extreme care of how you talk to yourself because you are the one person you will probably never lie to. So, if you talk to yourself in a derogatory manner or as someone incapable of doing something good or changing for the better, it will become a subconscious part of your personality. But if you are kind to yourself and talk to yourself like you matter, it will boost your confidence and improve your mental health. The way you talk to yourself is a core part of your self-image, and the way you see yourself influences how you behave with others, how confident you are in your abilities, and how you react to failure and opposition. So do it right and treat yourself with confidence and respect. A good way to do it is to talk to yourself as you do to someone you love to make them feel better and improve their lives. Another good way is to reiterate an important positive message (to yourself) over and over again.
Step #3- Focus On What You Want. Misunderstood goals and unknown variables are food for our fears and self-doubt. Many people wait to achieve something worthwhile because they don’t have a clear idea of what they are moving towards, so focusing on what you want is crucial. You need to ask yourself two important questions:
What do I want? And Is what I want worth all the effort it’s going to take to achieve it? If you know the answer to the first question and the answer to the second question is yes, then you will be able to keep going even when it gets really tough. With your eye on the prize, it will be easier for you to jump over hurdles and navigate around the hindrances that are inevitable on one’s path to success and achievement.
In contrast, focusing too much on solving the problems you encounter on the way to what you want to achieve may de-track you and have you wasting your energy and efforts on something that may not have a significant enough contribution towards your success. Doubt won’t enter your heart if you are fully committed to a goal, and your belief in what you want will dispel the fears that crop up from the challenges on the way.
Step #4- Humans are social creatures, and the need to belong is
ingrained in our psyche. A healthy sense of belonging and a support system made up of friends, relatives, colleagues, and other positive human elements can do wonders for your mental health and growth as an individual. It can also help you keep moving and crushing your fears along the way. If you have people around you who have confidence in your abilities, it can dispel your self-doubt. Having unsupportive surroundings such as, people who are doing the opposite in your life, i.e., bringing you down and fanning your fears needs to be let go of. Support yourself by increasing contact with supportive people and limiting contact with negative people.
Step #5 —One of the reasons fear and self-doubt exist is that, for many of us, things
never go beyond the “planning phase.” If we keep thinking about how we might fail, we might never take the steps necessary to succeed. It’s the same when it comes to fighting fear and self-doubt. When you have let go of your limiting beliefs, changed the way you perceive and talk to yourself, have clarity and focus, and have developed supportive surroundings, you can start taking the necessary steps toward your goals. Take small steps first and learn to deal with small failures. Each failure will come with its own dose of fear and self-doubt, and getting past each failure and achieving success will help you build tolerance against it. Soon, you will start taking larger, more impactful steps in your personal and professional life without fear and self-doubt getting in your way. Every time you make a decision, your fear of failure will emerge, but you can remind yourself what happened the last time it happened – you failed, and then you succeeded. If you do it frequently enough, it will become a natural part of the process for you.
Your belief in yourself and focus on your goal will help you keep moving despite failures and will teach you valuable lessons. This will improve your decision-making process and your ability to process fear and self-doubt.
worst of failures, and it’s not their failures that define them, but their triumphs over their failures. Resilience is a crucial trait for success because the more resilient you are, the more failures you can get past and the more falls you can stand up from, allowing you to go farther on your road to success. Resilience is a great remedy against fear and self-doubt. It fights your fears by endorsing your belief in your ability to move past failures and eradicates self-doubt by helping you achieve seemingly impossible things through persistence.
That power stems from a belief – the belief that you can elevate to a higher level of being and improve everything about yourself beyond what you currently think is possible. Developing your mindset around this belief can infuse you with the right kind of power. It also empowers your feelings and elevates your actions and words to a higher plane, where you start seeing a new world of opportunities and a new you.
