Discover the three essential foundations for marketing your course successfully. Learn how to create connections, clarify your offer, and streamline
Creating a course is like that cute popular guy who you had a crush on in high school.
It is something that you are interested in but, but at the same time, it is something that seems out of your reach.
You hear a lot about how it is possible to create a course and become a 6 figure earner who vacations often, but that does not seem real or attainable to you.
You have seen some of the big names in the entrepreneurial world and they all have courses.
You might have even bought some of their courses from them.
(Brendon Burchard, Billy Gene, Gina Devee, Amy Porterfield. I have bought from them all, so if you have too, you are not alone.)
You have heard them talk about how having a digital course can make you six figures. All you need to do is use Facebook ads or do a launch and you can magically change your life.
I know you have heard it because I have.
But what these big-time entrepreneurs haven’t realized is that you aren’t looking for more motivation.
The feeling is not being unmotivated but lost because you aren’t sure how to start marketing your course.
They are talking about how to have a 6 figure launch while you are wondering how to make your first dollar or your first thousand dollars with your course!
I know because I have been there. My professional background before becoming a Course & Marketing Coach was in traditional marketing in corporate and non-profit companies.
While managing social media for Texas A&M University and ABC 13 was fun and even exciting at times. While marketing at Gallery Furniture meant I got to buy Tempur Pedic at 75% off, it also meant that I was not used to doing marketing for an entrepreneur or small business that wasn’t already KNOWN.
So when I started my first business, I made a website, a business card, and got a coworking space that gave me access to a conference room. That’s what I thought starting a business was, but I didn’t do any marketing.
I didn’t create relationships online or in person.
I didn’t create brand awareness for my company.
I didn’t make offers.
I wasn’t clear on who my target market was or what result I provided them.
I didn’t know the language they used or how to call out their pain points so they would connect with me.
And at the time, I wasn’t sure how to.
So I set out to learn.
I worked with a private coach for a year, read every book, explored every software, and I immediately started taking action.
I took what I had learned and went from making $535 in the three years when I didn’t do any marketing, to making $1500 the first three months. I revamped my business and over $20,000 over the next 12 months.
The giant leap came because I learned the #1 secret to successfully marketing your course. The secret is to make sure you have the 3 Foundations of Marketing covered. The secret is that you have to have a network, a clear offer, and a way to collect payment.
1. Have a network
Your grandma and best friend may be your biggest fans. However, they are not the people you sell to. And you are not going to be the person texting coupons to everyone hoping they will buy from you.
You cannot have success in marketing your course if you don’t have customers. When I made the leap to making money in business, the women I sold to were new to me. Before then, I had only really known my family and the people I went to school and church with.
2.Be clear about what you are offering.
This may seem obvious, but often we wonder how to market our course before it is created. Before you market, it is crucial to know what it is you are selling (even if it doesn’t exist yet.)
When I made my first offer, I had the details of my program all mapped out. The actual program didn’t exist, but I had it outlined and I was clear on the transformation it would bring to women who signed up for it.
I was clear enough on what my offer was that I stood in front of a room all day on January 27, 2017, and taught what my program would help women accomplish. The clarity I had that day of my offer on that day brought me over $6,000.
3. Setup payment collection
The truth is that our thoughts have thoughts. When we are not sure of what our next step is, it can subconsciously cause us not to market our program with confidence because we know that everything isn’t ready. It can cause us all kinds of hesitation. But when you have the way you will take payments setup, you will be ready to market with full confidence!
When you have these three essentials checked off, you’ll find it easier to market your course.
