Save yourself from drowning

Are you ever overwhelmed by everything you think you have to do to get to your goal? You don't have to be.
You know how it is – there is so much that needs to be done that you can’t do any of it. The laundry is piling up on top of the washing machine, the dishes are piling up in the sink, and the bills are piling up on your desk. Your inbox is full, the refrigerator is empty, and your cat is telling you that he’s starving.
It can be easy to crawl back into bed, turn off the phone and ignore it all because it’s all too much to deal with.
It’s not just that you’re drowning in a nice calm pond – it’s that you’re being knocked over and tumbled around by a giant tsunami.
So what do you do?
Take some action and get back into control.
It doesn’t matter how bad it is, there is something in your life that you can control. It can be as little as washing your face, and brushing your hair. Making your bed makes the whole room seem tidier. Writing a quick response to a friend can make that overcrowded inbox feel a little less scary. Starting a shopping list gets your food ideas out of your head and onto paper.
Dealing with these little things gives you a practical experience of controlling the chaos in your life – and helps to calm you down enough to see how you can start to handle the big things.
