How to use gaming to help with ADHD while raising money for Charity & feel good!

Combining gaming, ADHD support, & charity is a creative & positive way to make a difference! Here's a step-by-step guide to help you have success!
1. Choose a Cause:
Select a charity or cause that resonates with you and aligns with your values. Make sure it’s something you’re passionate about, as this will help drive your efforts. (I love to support charity events that help children, battle cancer, or help veterans.) Every little bit helps!
2. Research ADHD-Friendly Games:
Identify games that are known to be engaging and potentially beneficial for individuals with ADHD. These could include games that require focus, problem-solving, or creativity. Some games, like puzzle or strategy games, may be particularly suitable. A personal favorite of mine is Rocket League, as it is simple to learn, but you’ve got to practice and get creative if you want to get better.
3. Create a Fundraising Plan:
Outline your fundraising strategy. Decide whether you want to do a one-time event or an ongoing campaign. Consider using platforms like GoFundMe, Kickstarter, or dedicated charity gaming platforms. Don’t be afraid to break it up into more than one session if your schedule works better that way!
4. Set Goals:
Define clear and achievable fundraising goals. This could be a monetary target, a number of hours played, or a specific achievement in a game. For me, this is usually a monetary number as it is for a charity. Even if you fall short, having the goal in place gives you something to work toward.
5. Build a Community:
Use social media, streaming platforms, or dedicated gaming forums to connect with others who share your interests. Building a community around your cause can amplify your impact. People can’t help if they don’t know you’re doing this awesome thing!
6. Livestream Gaming Sessions:
Consider livestreaming your gaming sessions on platforms like Twitch or YouTube. Engage with your audience, share your story, and explain why you’re fundraising. Encourage viewers to donate to your chosen charity. Again, they can’t help unless they know you’re doing this!
7. Collaborate with Other Gamers:
Reach out to other gamers or content creators who may be interested in supporting your cause. Collaborations can attract a broader audience and increase your fundraising potential.
8. Host Events and Challenges:
Organize gaming events or challenges that encourage participation and donations. For example, you could set up a charity tournament, gaming marathon, or in-game challenges with specific donation milestones. It doesn’t have to be overly complicated. It could be doing a “bean-boozled” challenge for every $5 raised. People like to donate to watch people eat “sock” flavored jellybeans.
9. Regular Updates and Thank-You’s:
Keep your audience informed about your progress. Regularly update them on the funds raised and express gratitude for their support. This helps maintain engagement and transparency. It also helps both you and the donor feel great about what happened!
10. Promote Offline Fundraising:
Explore offline fundraising opportunities, such as partnerships with local businesses, schools, or community events. Consider creating flyers or organizing gaming-themed gatherings. It goes without saying, ask your friends and family! Ask the others to share the news on your behalf, too.
11. Reflect and Improve:
After your fundraising campaign, reflect on what worked well and areas for improvement. Use this feedback to refine your approach for future initiatives.
By combining your passion for gaming with a meaningful cause, you not only contribute to charity but also create a positive and supportive community for individuals with ADHD.
