What can I expect from our coaching sessions?
Curiosity and Wonder
Our first meeting will be what I call a Curiosity Session, where I ask questions to help you find your top priority to begin moving one step forward. We are not going to delve into details of the past, other than creating a basic context to discuss your needs. During difficult, short term goals are necessary to find a strong sense of stability before dealing with bigger issues.
You know yourself far better than I do; so, I do not have set answers or specific strategies in mind for you. I am there to help you clarify where pain, chaos, anxiety come up for you so we can attend to those things first. By attending, I mean learning how to lean in and identify your discomfort, and then learn some tricks and techniques to calm yourself down.
That is where my training and experience will come in. I needed to learn many little “tricks” to soothe my mind and nervous system. Once I understand your triggers, we will find what works for you. These are often simple gestures such as taking your shoes off and planting your feet on the ground for a few minutes. Many of us probably know this, but how many of us make a habit of doing this every day?
I am interested in discovering you with a sense of curiosity and wonder, and I am not here to evaluate or do talk therapy. We are resilient beings with the capacity to recover and thrive after great difficulty; and I believe talking about trauma often reinforces the pain points. My job is to help you discharge pain points via quick physical practices and mindset adjustments.
After learning these basic skills, our sessions will move on to the next step, and the next toward you becoming your own best coach.
