Jesus: The Perfect Example

Leadership is all about influence. I can think of no one greater than Jesus Christ Himself. He was definitely a leader/influencer.
Whether you are a Christian or not, I don’t think anyone can deny that Jesus Christ was a great influencer and leader. The Bible tells us that He lived a perfect and sinless life (2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 3:5; Hebrews 4:15; 1 Peter 2:21-22; Philippians 2:5-11). He was the perfect example!
One of the most important qualities that I think a true leader must have is humility. Many people think leadership is about being on the top and telling other people what to do, but this is not true. True leadership is leading from a humble position. It is about serving others to great influence.
Jesus demonstrated a serving heart perfectly. Read the following passages: Matthew 20:25-28; Mark 9:35; Luke 22:25-27; John 13:2-17. All four gospel writers emphasized this point so it must be important to take note. In order to truly be the greatest, we must be willing to serve.
Jesus gave us the perfect example by washing the disciples’ feet (John 13:1-20). Jesus not only talked the talk, but He walked the walk. A true leader is a person of integrity who is willing to be a good example for others.
Many people can spot of phony from a mile away. If your leadership is not genuine others will notice. Jesus took this point to the next level. Jesus demonstrated His perfect love for others. Jesus commanded that we love God and love others (Matthew 22:37-40), but Jesus didn’t stop there. He was the perfect example to show what love really is (John 3:16; 15:12-13, 17).
So, do you want to be a good leader? Do you want to influence lives around you? Why not look to the perfect leader Who was the perfect example? Jesus was the absolute perfect example and we should look to Him as the standard of a true leader!
