Peak Performance
Have you ever felt that you are not performing well? Have you ever felt that there is an immense pressure on you to perform? Or do you just want to be better than what you were yesterday? If you answered yes to even one of these questions, this book is surely for you! If no, you can still gain a lot of insight from this book that will help you somewhere down your personal and professional life.
It has happened to all of us. Whether it was at school, college, the singing competition, an exam, a game or our professional life – we have all wanted to “go big or go home”. Setting goals and trying to go out of your way to achieve them is probably one of the most fulfilling and satisfying things that we can do. This is what makes us try to perform better and better.
Nowadays, achieving peak performance is not only important for self-satisfaction rather it has become important to merely survive in the world. The level of competition is staggering. Hardly a few decades before, you would be competing just with the people around you for a job. Now, however, there is global competition for any high-level corporate job. This is courtesy of the world becoming a global village.
So, how do you make sure you don’t feel this pressure or can compete against it? Well, that can be done by reaching your peak performance. Once you are fully self-motivated, you can easily achieve your peak performance.
According to me, the concept of peak performance has been around since man himself. The only difference between then and now is that the term has been formally defined. Some people confuse peak performance with high performance. In reality they are two very different terms. High performance is when you are performing at a consistently high level of motivation and outcome. Remember, it is consistent!
On the other hand, peak performance is almost the same as self-actualization in a specific task.
If you understand closely, peak performance is highly associated with self-motivation. Self-motivation is the internal drive that arises in each person to act towards achieving a goal. “I should do this”, “Let me finish this in time”, “I should go ahead and do it” all these thoughts are going to be shunned when you are self-motivated. Turning all these should into must is the first step to success. Self-motivation makes you more effective, resilient, and confident in yourself. You can overcome challenges and have a constructive outlook on your objectives, ultimately providing greater results.
