.What is Personal Coaching, Anyway?

In this brief, but informative article, I shed light on the coach/client relationship, the power of coaching, and the coach's role.
Personal (Life) coaching is not very different from a coach in sports. In sports, a coach works with athletes and teams to develop a strategic vision for achieving the goal, usually victory. The coach works with the athletes to hone their skills and realize their fullest potential by supporting, teaching, encouraging, and holding the athlete accountable when necessary. The personal coaching relationship is a results-based partnership between coach and client based on mutual trust, respect, honesty, and understanding designed to guide the client on a journey on which life changing insight and transformation takes place. A good coach takes the client from where they are currently, to where they desire to be. Coaching enables a client to shift their perspective and see the world as full of possibilities and opportunities, instead of one of impossibilities and obstacles in the way of success. It allows people to see the big picture and connect with that future version of themselves that already has the life they want and helps them get in touch with the power that already lives within. A good coach will help clients to live with purpose and intention to deliberately move past limiting beliefs, negative thoughts, self-destructive behaviors, overwhelm, and stagnation, and develop a mindset that allows them to change the way they see their world so they go out and create the life they want to live.Coaching Benefits:
• Self-Respect
• Better understanding of the “why beneath the why”
• More Confidence
• More Self Esteem, Awareness, and Control
• More Clarity and Focus
• Values and Priorities
• More Balance in Life
• Less Stress
• More Productivity
What a coach is not:
A coach is not a “friend” to vent to and WE ARE NOT THERAPISTS! We are not trained or licensed to diagnose or treat psychological issues or mental illness. Traditional Talk Therapy deals with issues that result primarily from traumas of the past. Coaching deals with where you currently are (the present, here, now) and helps you envision a path to get where you want to go. With that said, it is sometimes necessary to deal with issues from the past but only in relation to how they affect the client’s mindset in the present and going forward. A good coach empowers clients to identify and define their desires and create a plan to achieve them, while obliterating the self-limiting inner-narrative and other obstacles holding them back. As your coach, I will help ambitious high-performing people like you achieve success and fulfillment in their lives with less stress, overwhelm, and confusion. That is what powerful coaching should be. Is personal coaching with Coach Stephen right for you? It starts with a conversation.
