Here are a few steps I did that made all the difference... and I know can help you do it also!
First, if you don’t get your mind right then the rest will be much more difficult to ever achieve.
Believing Mindset-begin daily visioning of yourself in the career you are wanting. If you don’t know exactly the career then focus on some aspect you’d like to be a part of it. Ex: being outdoors, travel, helping people or animals, location independence, more creativity. Create a vision board… it made a huge difference for me, our minds and therefore our lives go towards what we think and see daily.
Why-determine your why…why is different than want to. Sit preferably in nature and brainstorm around what’s important to you. Ex: I “want” to have a job outdoors. “Why” because it makes me happier, healthier, more alive and then I’m a better person to my family, friends and myself. This will be a huge motivator to lean on when challenges arise on your journey.
Clear out the Life Clutter- what are you spending time on that is not serving you getting to your new career? Clear out habits that are wasting your time, you know what they are. Remove time commitments that do nothing for you moving forward. Decrease time with friends and/or family that are not supporting your transformation. For me I sold my TV and devoted the time to planning my new career and world travel.
Financial Clarity- put together a budget of your expenses, income and debts…all of it. Now look through the expenses and determine which ones could be holding you back. Is a newer car, expensive apartment or home what you’ll remember on your death bed? Or that amazing career/job you loved and the difference you made in the world. Taking Financial Peace University through Dave Ramsey made all the difference for me…check it out.
Research-you don’t know what you don’t know when it comes to career opportunities. Do research around what you’d like in a new career take notes of what you find…create new career notebook. Then reach out talk to others doing anything you may think you’d like to do. This will open up other possibilities you don’t even know about that could be your dream career.
Setting an End Date-for me it was…I’m selling my practice by this date. Whatever feels right for you yet you really need an end date / a goal date that you set that you’ll be in your new career or doing whats needed to get into it. This goes well on your vision board it’s a huge motivator.
Get out into Nature often- this is a must as nature will calm your nerves, help bring clarity to your thoughts, a place to brainstorm around the above steps in a loving calm environment. I made it a priority and it made a massive difference in my ability to sort through the above steps faster more clearly.
I really hope one or a few of these steps get you moving in the right direction. Only you can make the decision to take baby steps toward your career and lifestyle dreams.
