What’s your business, and who are your customers?
- I’m a Career and Leadership Coach. I work with high-achieving professionals to overcome imposter syndromes and show up as authentic and confident leaders in both their careers and home life.
Tell us about yourself!
- Born and grew up in southern China, I had recently moved to the UK in 2018. I speak Cantonese, Mandarin, and English. I’ve always been fascinated by people, culture, and languages. About 5 years ago, while working on a particular challenge in my life, I hired a coach and experienced a radical transformation. This opened my eyes to the power of coaching, and I began to invest in world-class coaching training and credentialing. Along the journey, I have had the privilege of working with hundreds of clients around the world who, just like me, are seekers of an honest and meaningful life.
What’s your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
- My biggest accomplishment is the deep TRUST I’ve developed within myself. Starting my coaching business when I immigrated to the UK, I had to build a new network and constantly take myself out of my comfort zone. From being a volunteer coach to working with the leadership teams in renowned companies such as John Lewis and Partners, I trust myself to keep learning and excelling.
What’s one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
- Asking for what you are worth. Sure, there’s a “market rate” and what you “should” be charging. But many of us entrepreneurs are affected by imposter syndrome, where we make up reasons to ask for less. My own journey really asked me to explore my relationship with money and expose those limiting beliefs.
What are the top tips you’d give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
1 )Know your intention: What is your BIG WHY?
2) Think like your customers: if you were in their shoes, would you pay for your own services?
3) Optimize your energy daily: Focus on what you are energized and good at, delegate and outsource what you are not. Otherwise, it gets overwhelming quickly.
