One Day or Day One?

Do you keep saying, “One day I’ll…” and then wait for a better time to do it?
If yes, read my article One Day or Day One
“The future starts today, not tomorrow.” Pope John Paul II
One Day I will learn French. One Day I will take my parents out. One Day, I will take the time to start writing a book. One Day I will become successful.
One Day something will occur or be done at some point in the future. You are waiting for the right moment to make a change. You keep on planning and deciding to do something you want someday. The bad news is that likely One Day is never going to happen. One Day never comes until you turn it into Day One. The simple sequence of those two words turns the dream into reality. Every Day, including this one, provides an opportunity for transformation. The key resides in seizing the moment and turning One Day into Day One.
You need to choose between doing and procrastination. Then, you need to start instantly working on the things you want and begin your Day One.
Day One means the first day of a plan: what’s the first thing you are going to get done? E.g., one of the things on my bucket list was that One Day I would travel to Peru. This wouldn’t move from dream to plan until, on Day One, I started to research what are the best months for travel to avoid the rainy season and what’s the minimum number of days I needed to block for the journey. I learned that I need to select an itinerary within the country as I cannot cover even in a 10-days trip. So, my Day Two action was to learn more about each route, and on Day Three, to check on the tickets and accommodation. Only when I determined the Day One step did the trip become a reality. And the same approach applies to everything in our lives.
You can continue with wishful thinking that will never get you what you want, or you can start planning and acting to accomplish what you want.
While One Day keeps you safe and unaccountable, Day One makes the changes happen. So, think about something you want to do One Day. There’s no preparation required for a simple action. Once you take it, you grow, as Day 1 brings you closer to your dreams and an improved version of yourself.
Remember: One Day means delaying your goals and dreams, and Day One indicates that you are already working on something.
