Finding solutions that lead to your goals is possible, but not always easy.

My consultation/coaching approach incorporates both a modern Western framework and a Japanese influenced East/West philosophy.
I help people by using a combination of Eastern and Western psychologically influenced training which makes it possible to increase your ability to cope with difficulties in life, and ultimately finding meaningful solutions leading to your goals.
This work allows for a more mindful and present way to target solutions and take constructive and generally easy to moderate action day by day. I use an integrative approach consisting of cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness training, easy and simple self reflection techniques, constructive solution focused interventions, insight building exercises, clarity oriented skill training, and psycho-education.
These together are designed to lead you to thoughtfully targeted goals, determine areas of possible support, increase important skills needed to move forward, and initiate and commit to constructive and pragmatic behaviors that will allow you to find solutions to wanted short term and long term change. It isn’t always easy to get started, but once you do, these new skills can take you where you want to go.
A Little About Myself
I’ve worked in various positions helping others “reach goals” since 2004 when I began my Masters track in Counseling Psychology through Calpoly Humboldt, located in Northern most part of California. Behind the Redwood curtain they say.
I started direct clinical work with families and individuals that year.
Early in my training I followed my personal and educational interest in Eastern philosophy, and focused on bridging Eastern and Western psychological approaches into something that I could use to help folks move forward with in life, in addition to my counseling psychology track. This I based my graduate research on.
I conducted this research as I traveled throughout Japan and over a series of three months. I was invited to take part in two consecutive presentations, held at the 2006 and the 2007 West Coast Psychological Association conference in Vancouver, B.C. The first presentation was my original research and the second as “second author” on a project that built upon my original study.
After graduating with distinction and completing both practicum and internship training, I went on to gain hands on experience in solution focused intervention, family systems theory, attachment and adoption, and integrative co-occurring treatment. Eventually I obtained full licensure to practice psychotherapy in 2010 and relocated back home to the Central Coast to open my private practice.
Between 2011-2013 i gained certification in the study and application of three forms of Japanese psychological approaches toward change:
-Naikan practice (guided contemplation/introspection)
-Morita therapy (pragmatic behavioral shaping, mindfulness and reality based decision making)
-Kaizen ( small steps and incremental adjustment toward goal achievement)
At this point in my career I continue to work with folks in California as a Licensed therapist, and with people throughout the States as a consultant, coach and psychoeducational advisor/teacher. I advise new and seasoned therapists, and supervise both clinical social work and marriage and family therapist associates.
