“If I want to talk about HR policies, I’ll talk to the HR Director. If I want to maximize my performance, I’ll talk to my Coach.”
As businesses have dealt with multiple challenges during the past few years; lockdowns, supply chain problems, high inflation, and skill shortages, many executives have requested the support of coaches.
According to Magdalena Mook, Chief Executive of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the main accrediting and credentialing body for both training programs and coaches, the demand for coaching keeps increasing in 2022.
Professionally trained coaches act as a sounding board and support leaders by helping them find different perspectives to challenges and prioritize competing demands.
A senior executive at a packaging solution company having to close down multiple plants and let go of employees said: “If I want to talk about HR policies I’ll talk to the HR Director. If I want to maximize my performance, I’ll talk to my coach.”
This was also the case for the head of marketing for a Fortune 500 company who stated: “It felt like having a professional mirror where I was challenged and I found different solutions to the problems I never would have seen myself”.
It is a fact that the pandemic has intensified the demand for highly skilled coaches due to the changed work environment with an increasing lack of human connection. Executives at all organizational levels need more help than ever before to navigate the difficulties, both in business and in their private life.
