My first trip in 3 years post-Covid: Did the way people show up change?

Post-pandemic the everyday person is now more purpose-led, and more determined than ever before to create an impact through their life.
I recently returned from India after having traveled for the first time in 3 years. That is right since the world found Corona, I remained home in Dubai.
It was unbelievable to travel again. I got to meet with friends, and connections, fellow coaches, trainers, founders, and industry leaders during my two weeks there. I realized how much we have missed in three years. The physical social connections, the exchange of ideas, and banter that expands your mindset.
One thing I did notice though that was very different from before was the way people were showing up.
This time around I found every person more grounded. Everyone showed more purpose and they were determined to make it count through their work.
If this is what Corona has taught us then wow, it took a pandemic to wake us and shake us into becoming more human. Everyone I spoke to had one thing to share with me, they had taken time to reflect on what was important and they were no longer willing to negotiate in the middle. They were more determined than ever to live life on their own terms.
My key takeaway as a CEO and also as the founder of a leading well-being consultancy, is that organizations must evolve now that their people are evolving. We have to step up beyond focusing on smaller modifications such as whether to create a hybrid workplace or make minor tweaks to our systems. Rather we need to take this chance to create meaningful systems that deliver meaningful products and services to the world at large, focusing on our People as the center and the key driver. Our clients and marketplaces expect no less from us. If our systems don’t adapt soon enough we will be left outdated.
The stubborn old school beaurocrats need to wake up to know that Emotions are here to stay at work, as are Soft Skills (yes, I said it since this is a term that is so incorrectly used to define human skills) and if you are not attuned to this you will lose good people and your market positioning.
If you thought we were still changing, it’s time to see that many have already changed, the transformation has begun and what once was optional is now a necessity for us all, a quality life with balance and wellbeing.
The question I leave you with is, what are you going to do about it to ensure that you can meet your people where they are?
