As a Coach I get asked these questions a lot - how do I keep a positive mindset? How do I attract more positivity in to my life?
As a Coach I get asked these questions a lot – how do I keep a positive mindset? How do I attract more positivity in to my life? I can’t seem to find a break – why am I so unlucky? At one point or another I am quite sure I had these very same questions myself! The struggle is real!
When we excel in a particular area of life – it is because we have engaged in opportunities, daily rituals, failed, have habits, identified role models, monitored progress and studied to become great in that area of life.
So you want a positive mindset? Have you read up about it?
If you were a car enthusiast – you would spend a lot of time consuming that knowledge. Similarly if you were a cricket fanatic – you can quote player stats. How can you expect to cultivate a positive mindset without putting in the work?
We need to study where we want to grow. The internet has over 28 million results if you type in “how to maintain a positive mindset” today. We all stop at one article or one video. We aren’t ready to make the commitment.
Just like we know maintaining a “healthy body” requires effort, knowledge and an overall outlook – so does a healthy mind. No Olympian will say that they just woke up and won the Olympics on the spur of the moment with no knowledge and training. The best in class are always prepared.
Peak performance is very clear – what people underestimate time and time again is how that trajectory of “peak” is only possible with a positive mindset. It sounds quite simple and trivial – obvious even. It is important that we maintain a positive mindset and inculcate daily rituals which will prepare us for the worst – isn’t that what a positive mindset is for?
When emotions are high – intelligence is low. No one ever makes a good decision in a bad mood. The best decisions were sometimes made in the most unlikely places.
Meditation will always be a hot and relevant topic in learning to understand your own mind. I have written about this earlier – link to the article.
Struggling with wanting a list of new habits to become more “positive”? My article from November 2020 has some helpful hints – link to the article.
Sometimes we go on a retreat – on holiday – attend an uplifting spiritual event – but the sense of peace doesn’t last forever. Peace is easy to obtain from peaceful places – but the goal is to feel peace in the midst of a storm.
If you struggle with needing more “positivity” in your life – this means you need to make daily efforts to get there. When you do suddenly feel that everything is going your way – it is the strength of maintaining your daily habits that will keep you ready for the next storm.
Positive people are in the habit of bouncing back fast after failure or able to weather a storm. Positive people face disappointment all the time – the only difference is that they wont be defined by it and only stop long enough to learn from it.
A healthy mindset can be neglected just like if an athlete doesn’t train for 6 months. Even an athlete gets injured but they rest and they get back on the horse. In the journey of excellence there is always disappointment – learn when to rest and not just quit.
I hope I sparked your curiosity to pursue a journey on “positivity” the world needs it today!
