Do you believe change is a difficult process? Do you get stuck repeating your own 'change cycle' over and over again? Let me help you break through it
Everything in this amazing Universe moves, nothing stands still. Science shows us that every cell of the human body completely renews itself within a span of seven years. Did you know our brains are taking in new information each moment? Also our minds are constantly adapting this information into our thoughts, beliefs, and associations.
You can’t even have a new experience without literally adapting your mind, and our world can’t exist without continuous growth and expansion. You are actually changing as you read these words. You are moving, growing, expanding & changing, sounds inspiring, doesn’t it?
It’s no secret that the environment around you is constantly moving as well. We live in a time of unmatched change. Technology expands our reach and capabilities. And global connectivity transforms our borders and cultures.
You have the power and ability to direct the moves in your life
So there’s no question: You are changing. And the wonderful thing is that you have the power and ability to direct the moves in your life. Achieving goals means making changes. Even when you’re not actively working toward what you desire, what you feel, think, say, and believe about life is constantly putting change in motion. You are creating your life as you go along, so you might as well create it intentionally.
What determines your success or non-success, and whether you direct your life’s change or feel like a victim of it, is a choice. You can choose to continue with your life as you currently live it, let the outside world and your past tell you what you experience, or you can choose to create your life to be everything that you dream of.
What does the common change cycle look like?
Now that we know that we can direct change, there is an important obstacle you need to address, in order to be successful. Most people find change to be a difficult process. Many well-intentioned people want to make changes and achieve well-planned goals, but they get stuck repeating their own ‘change cycle’ over and over again.
Let me explain what the change cycle looks like and the reasons why it remains a cycle most of the time. These 6 reasons look rather familiar because a lot of people experience this process of inspiration and resistance when they face a decision to change.
1) Discontent • You grow increasingly unhappy and discontent with an area of your life and you fear change.
2) Breaking Point • Eventually your level of discontent builds high enough that you cannot take it anymore.
3) Decision • You decide you’re ready to change and declare that you will no longer tolerate the undesirable situation.
4) Fear • Usually, shortly after your feelings of empowerment, you encounter your fear. You become uncomfortable you doubt your decision
5) Amnesia • The fear of change grows strong enough that it makes the original situation look much better than you originally thought.
6) Backtracking • Most people choose to go back to or stick with the item they wished to change. You essentially talk yourself out of your plans to change.
How to break the change cycle
As long as your fear of change takes over the feelings of commitment to make changes, this 6 reason-cycle will continue until 1 or 2 things things happen:
1) Extreme circumstances happen (outside world) • If you don’t direct change yourself there will be other breaking points that are severe enough to push you through the change cycle. For many people, unfortunately, it takes an extreme circumstance to push them to evolve, such as financial loss, job loss, loss of a loved one, the ending of a relationship, an accident, or a burnout. Somehow your ‘Higher Self’ ‘knows’ what you truly want and will lead you to it. If you resist change long enough, something will happen in your life that will put you in a position where you have no choice but to change.
2) Raise your toplevel of Self-Honesty (inner world) • You realise that there’s a part of you that doesn’t really want to change. You are comfortable with your habits and what you know. You have a lot of fear that holds you back. You have many self-limiting beliefs. You receive some sort of benefit from staying where you are. It even seems like you are unhappy because you want to be unhappy. You are addicted to the situation. You believe your pain is you; it’s your story. Only after reaching this level of self-honesty you can truly choose to change and let resistance go.
Are you ready to take responsibility for your life?
Can you see how this change cycle has impacted your life? Are you ready to stop it? Have you experienced resistance to change before? If so, you know that the more you move toward the ideal outcome of your change process, your fear and resistance will decrease. Are you ready to be honest to yourself, even if it is hard, because you are tired of being dissatisfied? Are you ready to take responsibility for your life and create the life of your dreams?
As a life coach I can help you remove the fear and resistance.
Are you at the point where you will accept nothing less than what you truly want? If so, let me help you to break through and go the extra mile together to make you thrive and succeed.
