ONE THING A DAY CHALLENGE!

Healthy habits can only be built bit-by-bit
You might be feeling overwhelmed by life and the endless tasks that you have to take care of every day. You have a to-do list that just never seems to be getting any shorter with never enough time to focus on yourself and do things that you really enjoy without worrying whether you are wasting time or being productive enough.
It’s not a great place to be in and making a change might seem like yet another massive task that you “will get around to at some point” when in reality, it just gets moved from one day to the next.
I think we all agree that this is not the best way to live life. Regardless of how busy your life is, you deserve to be happy and to have moments to yourself doing things you truly enjoy.
The good news is that making a change does not have to be a “massive task”. The only way to implement effective life changes is bit-by-bit (or for the Lego fans: brick-by-brick).
This approach not only gives your mind enough time to adapt to the change but it also makes the process of change less formidable.
So I’d like to invite you all to join me in the “One thing a day challenge”. It requires only the time you have available each day and a small of amount of effort.
What is the “One thing a day challenge”?
Every day for the next 2 weeks, I would like you to do only ONE THING that makes your day a little better. Simple, right?
Here’s what you have to keep in mind:
- The “one thing” can be something very small such as enjoying a great cup of coffee. The trick is however to really take a moment to enjoy it instead of gulping it down while rushing to get to work :)
- You decide on the amount of time you want to dedicate to the “one thing” but you have to commit to spending this time without any interruptions or distractions.
- The “one thing” is essentially about creating better and healthier habits. We are building the habit of making your happiness a priority and there are many ways to get there. So, challenge yourself to try out various things (even if you haven’t done them before).
- Keep in mind that what will make you happier in the long-run is not overindulging without any limits and balance is key when we’re trying to build new habits. Therefore, if one day you decide that your “one thing” is enjoying a chocolate cookie, maybe the next day it’s taking a brisk walk at your nearest park.
- There are no exceptions to the “one thing” challenge regardless of how busy your day is. It will be hard at first but you will see that you can always squeeze in a bit of time to dedicate just to yourself.
- Check in with yourself before and after the challenge. See whether you are already feeling differently. My guess is that you are :)
If you’re still having doubts about whether this is a challenge you can take on, think about this: there is nothing stopping you from living a happier life than you.
