Helpful vs Unhelpful Thoughts: Save Yourself

How to identify unhelpful vs helpful thoughts and shift your mindset to serve you
Let’s do it.
2 steps:
1. Identify the thoughts you no longer want to have.
2. Replace those with thoughts you do want to have
The key is that you have to notice when you’re hosting unwanted (unhelpful) thoughts - thoughts that create negative & unwanted feelings. The other key is that you have to have to be able to come up with alternative (helpful) thoughts.
Let’s try:
Unhelpful thought: I’m lazy
Helpful thought: I’d like to get more done. How can I start?
Unhelpful thought: That person’s shirt is ugly
Helpful thought: What an interesting shirt. Their taste is different than mine.
Unhelpful thought: I’m so annoyed about this traffic. This is so boring. Everyone is stupid.
Helpful thought: Darn, here I am in traffic. I can’t do anything about it so I might as well enjoy myself. I’ll put on a podcast, audiobook, or call my Mom.
Can you feel the shift between the unhelpful thought and the helpful thought? I hope so. Try it out! Let me know how it works for you. Eventually, the helpful thoughts will become your default.
Cheers,
Allison
