The Importance of Envisioning Your Ideal State

Dream State Vision Mapping
“I don’t like this”, “I’m unsatisfied”, “I wish it was different”.
Different how? What don’t you like? What do you wish it was like instead?
We are so quick to identify what’s wrong. This is a great first step! Identify what you DON’T want. But then… be sure to always talk about what you DO want.
Identifying and envisioning your ideal state is key to making your dreams a reality. If you never envision it, how likely are you to create it? If you don’t know what it even is? Here’s the rule: you’re allowed to complain only once on a given topic, then you must start talking about solutions. Not only that, but I also encourage a dream state exercise - in all aspects of your life: career, relationships, romance, self, life as a whole!
Inspire and empower yourself by allowing yourself to dream. I know letting yourself dream can be a little scary, because with a righteous dream comes the “pain” of realizing you don’t have it or you don’t know how to get there. But this “pain” is an illegitimate reason not to dream. Especially if dreaming gets you closer to achieving that dream, and I guarantee that it does. So let yourself dream. Some of us don’t have much experience with this. I know I didn’t. I’ll walk you through it! Eventually, you’ll find that it’s fun to dream. Not only because acknowledging the contrast between current and ideal states often turns out to be more inspiring than haunting, but also because envisioning a dream allows you to map it, and mapping it allows you to execute, and executing makes it a reality.
Okay so let’s dream! Here’s how:
How to dreeeeeeaaaaaaaaaammmmm
1. Pick an area to focus on (career, relationship, social life, hobbies)
2. Ask yourself this question: If it’s magic fairy dust magic time and I get everything I want, no limitations… what is it like? What do I have? What do I want? When I’m on my death bed, what will I regret not having done?
3. NOTICE the thoughts that arise when you hold this vision for yourself. Thoughts of doubt - catch them and ask them to kindly now please leave now. Tell them that it’s magic fairy dust magic time and they don’t have your permission to participate. Take those self-limiting belief thoughts and turn them into inspiring thoughts with the flavor of “I can”, “what if”, “I will” (even if you have trouble believing in it right this moment).
4. Now make 2 lists
a. What’s stopping me from having my ideal ____
b. Solutions to challenges between me and my ideal ______
5. Now implement those solutions
BOOM. You dreamt, you said bye-bye to rude af thoughts and traded them for thoughts that serve you in your goal to attain an ideal state, you identified what’s preventing you from having your ideal state, and you showed yourself exactly what you need to do to solve those challenges.
This might not teleport you to your ideal state but it will get you a hell of a lot closer than “I don’t like this”, “I’m unsatisfied”, “I wish it was different”.
Example:
1. Balance of all daily things (career, relationships, self), my daily flow in general
2. Magic fairy dust time, my ideal day!
6 am: Wake up
– Journal, meditate, sunshine time, coffee (+/- brekkie)
– Gym
– Shower
– Post gym meal
8:30 am: Start work for the day
- Coach clients 1:1
12:00: Lunchey, sunshine time walk
- Create content (blog, podcast, youtube, Instagram, Twitter)
- Create business assets, content, plans (webinars, online courses, hiring)
- Coach clients 1:1 (or group coaching)
5 pm: Dinner
- Practice dance 2hrs
8pm: Bedtime wind down
- Reading time
- Snuggle time
9:30pm: BIG HUGE BED TIME!
3. Thoughts:
- “You don’t have that much time”
- “You can’t do all of that”
- “You have to go to science job”
- “You won’t ever actually get to bed on time or get up on time”
HEY stahp. Instead, let’s try on these thoughts:
- “If I manage my time well and put things on my calendar I bet I can create something like this”
- “I’d like to prove to myself that I can do all of this in one day and enjoy it”
- “I’m willing to do what it takes to build the habit and system for going to bed on time so I can get up early and execute my plan”
5. 2 lists:
a. What’s stopping me from having my ideal day?
- Doing science job 5 days per week
- Too few clients to coach full time
- Lack of action, just do it
- Bedtime gets pushed, rise time gets pushed, I don’t fit it in
- Lack of a vision
- Lack of a plan
- Quit science job or get remote wellness position within science job
- Increase budget on thumbtack, try new lead generators (fliers, google yelp, fb, funnels)
- Be deliberate with quality time so I can go to bed when it’s bedtime
DO IT NOW
I just mapped this dang vision
I just made a plan
SKOOOOOOOOO
IMPLEMENT, SKOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
