How to Build Confidence!

5 "Mantras” for Confidence, which can be learned quickly and can be incorporated into your day-to-day life.
Are you the one, who wants to ask your boss about your next promotion, but is never able to knock on his door….or
Are you the one who wants to perform on the stage, but it never happened…. Or
Are you that student in the class who knows all the answers, but when the teacher asks you, never able to answer.
We all faced many such similar situations in our lives and we all know that it happens because we struggle with low confidence. Let me tell you one secrete – We are not born with low confidence and like any other skills we can learn to build confidence.
For boosting your confidence you just need little practice and my Mantras, which I am going to share now-
1. Break your Boundaries
We build many boundaries in our mind, like “I can’t sing”, “ I am not a good writer” or “ I can’t start my own business”. Thus, Our confidence remains behind the huge walls forever, along with our goals and dreams. To break these boundaries, let’s take the first step i.e., recognize these boundaries. Once you recognize them, act like a Sherlock Holmes and dig down further and find out whether these boundaries are real or imaginary.
Now it’s time to take the second step and start breaking these boundaries by working towards your goals and dreams. Understand one thing, if you will not start to try then there is a 100% chance that you will fail, but if you take the first step to break these boundaries, there is at least 50% chances that you will get success. So, get up and break those boundaries…
2. Pat Your Back
Many times, it happens that people criticize you, keep on reminding you that what we can not achieve and how you failed. These continuous reminders of our failures and weaknesses lower our confidence. Let me tell you, for boosting your confidence no other person will come, You have to do it by yourself by keep reminding your strengths and achievements.
Make a chart or a scorecard where on one side you can write down all your strengths like “I am a good writer”, “I am an honest person”, “I am a fast learner” or “I am a good sportsman” and on other side write down all your small to big achievements like “how nicely you gave your presentation”, “You helped someone in distress "or “you learned something new today”. Feel proud of your success and give yourself a star for all your achievements.
Now, put this chart where you can see it every day. Next time, when that special event will come – like your job interview, or you are meeting with an important client or going out on a first date, or any such movement when you need the boost on your confidence, go and have a good look at your ‘Confidence chart’ and I guarantee you that you would be ready to face any situations.
3. Friendship with your Failure
Whenever you face any failure in your life, whether it’s in the job, relationship, or studies. There is a possibility that our confidence would shatter like glass. It happened because we do consider our failures as our enemy. Now is the time to change that perception and start considering your failure as your friend or a teacher.
Let me walk you back in memory lane, remember when you were a child and learning a bicycle for the first time, how was the experience? Were you able to ride on the first go or you fell down? But after all these failures to ride, did you give up to learn a bicycle, No right? You keep on trying and falling from the bicycle till the time you become perfect at riding it.
Now come back and tell me what happened as an adult when you face failure? you will realize that you gave up most of the time, just after a few attempts. So next time when failure knocks on your door, welcome it and analyze why this happened – Maybe you didn’t try enough with full efforts or maybe you didn’t change your approach to overcome it. Failure is the best teacher in our life.
4. Update your Software-
In today’s world, we all are fortunate to have a smartphone in our hands and we keep on receiving messages every few months that – ‘Update Your Software’. When, even technology needs to update, Why we human sometimes forget to Update and Upgrade our knowledge?
If you always want to feel confident then this is very important that you should update and upgrade your knowledge bank by learning something new. If you are a student learn different languages. In your workplace learn new technical skills for your job. When you read the newspaper, don’t just read the local news but read international news as well and learn about what is happing in the world.
This Knowledge bank will help you in your day to day communications. It would be a big boon in your job interview or your presentation or even when you want to start a conversation with a totally new person. For strong self-confidence, you should have a strong and big knowledge bank.
5. Stay Happy
Happiness and confidence go hand in hand. A smile on your face, not only makes you friendly and attractive, but it will also show that you are a confident person. Stay happy because it is the best confidence booster.
