Growth is uncomfortable

When there is no growth - there is stagnation
Growth is uncomfortable
Thinking back on my life, there is not one time where I had major growth that was also comfortable.
Starting when I learned to walk (as I’m sure many of you can relate to!).
I fell.
I hit my head (I still have a scar in my left eyebrow to this day hitting the hard corner of a chair.)
I skinned my knees.
I got bumps and bruises from falling so much.
Was it comfortable? Hell No.
Yet, I knew that I needed to be upright and moving on two legs.
The end goal was more important than the discomfort.
Think back to when you learned how to ride a bike. or swim, or drive a car, or play a musical instrument, or skate, or ski, or play a team sport, or learned a new subject….
Was it always smooth sailing right from the get go? I bet at the start it was uncomfortable in some way shape or form.
Brene Brown said, "…we need to cultivate the courage to be uncomfortable and to teach the people around us how to accept discomfort as a part of growth.”
Often comfortable means no growth which in turn causes stagnation.
According to Kain Ramsay, “All productive activity and progress in life begin with movement. Where there is no toil or struggle, there will be no progress or growth. If we are not striving to move forward and progress in life, we may unwittingly end up stagnating and decaying. Therefore, we must guard ourselves against decay.”
And one more quote …
Thomas Fuller, “All things are difficult before they are easy.”
Be uncomfortable with the discomfort.
Grow.
Change.
Spread your wings.
Try something new.
Move forward. Take action.
Lois, live this one and only life you have fully, whatever that means to you:)
