What to say if someone says your light shines too brightly

Too bright? Tell them to wear sunglasses...
Tell them to wear sunglasses…
Hello Lois,
One of my friends said that once she started her business and she started doing really well.
Getting clients.
Making really good money….
….Some of her friends and loved ones said, “Don’t make too much a big deal out of what you’re doing. You don’t want to appear arrogant or braggy. Maybe keep it to yourself…”
Really?
Are they telling her to not shine?
Not be proud of who she is and what she has accomplished?
To hide out of the way in some dank dark corner?
STOP!
If someone ever, I mean ever, says that your light shines too brightly, instead of changing who you are, what you do, how you feel….instead put it on them.
Tell them if your bright beautiful shining light (your accomplishments) bothers them, they should wear sunglasses.
- You don’t have to change who you are
- You don’t have to lessen your accomplishments
- You don’t have to hide
- You don’t have to keep quiet
- You don’t have to do anything….if it bothers them, then it’s up to them to do what they need for
themselves.
- You are not responsible for how they react to you…
and in turn you can only control how you respond.
- So be proud
- Be joyous
- Be loud, quiet, mad, sad, happy, mean, angry, grateful …be you.
And let them be them
Do I hear a hell yes?!
Hell yes!
