Creating a vision is a picture of what success will look like at some point in the future.

See your future
Such simple and profound words of wisdom from one of the greatest comedies of all time. “See your future, be your future.” How many times in your life have taken a moment to really see your future? When was the last time you sat down and wrote out what you want your future to look like? Have you taken the time to create a vision for yourself or your company?
A good friend of mine sent an article to me entitled “Creating a Company Vision” from Inc. Magazine. The gist of the article states creating a vision is a picture of what success will look like at some point in the future. “see you future, be your future” Wouldn’t it be worthwhile to know what future success looks like?
Be your future
It is important is to create a vision of your future that is powerful enough to pull you or your company towards it. The future vision has to be specific and concrete, yet big enough that it stretches you just beyond your comfort zone. A powerful vision of your future takes you out of reactive mode and puts you in the driver’s seat. When you are guiding your future it is a lot easier to handle what life can throw at you. Furthermore, once in the driver’s seat you can create a plan or road map to get you to your destination.
The exercise does not take a lot of time, but I encourage everyone to take a look at the article and give it a shot. If anything, visioning can be a fun way to get you out of your current day-to-day thoughts and onto creating something bigger.
“make, make, make your future”
