Mystery of Conflicts

Posted on March 12, 2022 by Nighat Haroon, One of Thousands of Career Coaches on Noomii.

I came across several sessions with my client where I have seen trust-jealousy, habits, sex and misuse of powers were the main conflict triggers.

Conflict is a clash of interest, some call it argument, some dispute, some view of opinion and in rational view a supremacy or dominance on others. In Relationship, whether as couples or colleagues all have a point where both parties disagree or get stuck in a box of unresolved conflicts. I came across several sessions with my client where I have seen trust-jealousy, partner personality habits, sex and misuse of powers were the main conflict triggers in a relationship. Relationship frictions are consistent across cultures but varies in work environment.
Relationship quality is more about how you deal with conflict rather than what you are fighting about. The root cause of conflicts in relationship is differences in perspectives, beliefs and values, opinions, personalities, experiences, and tastes. It typically includes an argument or continuous disagreements on an ongoing issue. Some example for this would be such as house hold (money, distribution of errands, responsibility of kids) on other hand in colleagues (jealousy, ranks, misconception, wrong perceiving, and so on)

Main Causes in Relationship:

People bring different norms, cultures, values and beliefs in a relationship which may cause difference in opinion and can lead to a Conflict:

1. Dominancy and Control
Dominance motivation appears to be bipolar and people strive for power whereas others try to avoid it. As human nature people don’t likes to be ruled they feel comfortable in their zone and like to have the freedom to think, act and results. Wanting to have control and power generally happens when one person enjoys feeling superior to another. The solution, is to experience in trying to put yourself in other’s shoes instead of trying to control them.

2. Selfishness
We often get so obsessed with our own desires that we forget to think about the decisions effecting others. This is true for any kind of relationship. The majority of mankind never cross check to think their steps with ECOLOGICALLY, which means (finance, health, relationship, environment and psychological effects). Everybody is aware of every ACTION has RE-ACTION but no one caters while making decisions.

3. Criticism
People always carry a fear of being judge or criticized on their point of view. A relationship where your partner or colleague criticizes everything you do is annoying. As the hope of making satisfy regress to such end that people prefer to walk out from such toxic environment.

4. Lack of Communication
Communication is the crucial part of relationship may cause conflicts if the other persons way of communication isn’t effective (Such as: tone, body language, usage of words and so on). As an NLP practitioner I came across the communication process where a human take external events through 5 senses and filters it with General, Distortion and deletion. During this process the information process with personally value, beliefs and attitudes. Understand the process of communication to avoid conflicts and improves relationships. Work on how to improve your communication and understand others personal values and beliefs to decrease stress in relationships.

5. High Expectations
The secret behind being happy relationship is having low expectation. During relationship, when one person fails to meet the expectations of the other person, then other tends to feel betrayed and hurt. To handle such conflicts it is always advisable to keep their demands and expectations reasonable. Effective communication in this manner overcomes the misconception being faced and both ensure they are on the same page.
