Positive self-talk is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself, and beginning your day with that kind of positivity is essential.
What does your morning self-talk sound like? Do you sabotage yourself before you even get out of bed? Positive self-talk is one of the most powerful things you can do for yourself, and beginning your day with that kind of positivity is essential.
I teach my clients about positive “I AM” statements and how they shift you into a different mindset. Beginning your day with those positive affirmations will not only start you off on the right foot; it will propel you into positivity throughout the day. My kids and I often say our affirmations out loud in the morning and then yell, “Today is going to be a great day.” It is the most fantastic way to show the universe what you are creating.
If you are hitting the snooze button on your alarm clock because you’re tired or laying in bed with thoughts of how busy your day will be, you will have the gloomy day you are portraying. On the other hand, if you are grateful that you woke up to see another beautiful day and looking forward to all of the people and things you get to experience, you will create the joyous day you crave. What kind of start do you want to have for the day?
As a possibility, gratitude journaling and meditation will help to propel your day positively. As will getting up as soon as your alarm clock sounds. If you know that you need extra sleep, it is better to set your alarm later than continually hit the snooze button. By doing this, you are giving your brain a sense of accomplishment as soon as you awake.
Be gracious for the day ahead and all of the fantastic opportunities you have to look forward to. You can go so far as to say, “This is going to be a blessed day. I am well-rested, and I have many people and opportunities to look forward to. I am privileged to be able to support my family with my work and be around the most amazing people.” There are many incredibly positive things that you can tell yourself every morning. Whatever it is for you, those few sentences will chart the course of your day and, when used repeatedly, will shift your mindset for life.
