Make more money with a strong personal brand

As your brand begins to pay off, (with opportunities, acknowledgment, accolades, money) you become more and more comfortable in your own shoes.
Want to make more money? You’d better start developing your personal brand soon, then…
We pay more for strong brands.
Think about it- Starbucks coffee will cost you double what it costs at the diner down the street.
An iPhone can set you back a couple of thousand dollars- WAY more than most competing smartphones.
We’ll pay a premium for strong brands because we FEEL we’re getting more than just the product– in our minds, we’re getting an experience.
The same is true for people.
Strong brands earn more for the differentiated value they offer- for the value they add beyond meeting the minimum eligibility requirements.
And you can stand out beyond meeting the minimum requirements by having a strong personal brand…
which then will help you get ahead…
which usually leads to more money.
I didn’t have my own branding in place for a long time…as a brand consultant.
Why? For reasons that I see so many other entrepreneurs struggle with:
- I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do with my business long-term, so what was the point of creating something that I’d just have to change in a year or two?
- I was afraid that I’d be trapped in cliches or gimmicks
- I just wasn’t prioritizing it
- I was afraid to show up once I had it (the topic of many other posts of mine)
And what were the results of my procrasti-branding?
- I spent WAY more time trying to figure out what I should say than if I’d just taken the time to create strong, clear messages and stick with them
- My confidence was a lot lower than it should have been
Of course, I see the irony in this… I was creating branding for my clients. But I was too close to my business to step back and see myself objectively.
Here’s the thing: your brand is going to change as your business or career evolves and as YOU change.
Does that mean you shouldn’t start somewhere?
One of my favorite places to start is by taking an assessment called the Strengths Profile. I know there are a million personality assessments out there, and a lot of them are excellent (you may even have taken a few).
The reason I like the Strengths Profile so much is that it’s very down-to-earth and actionable.
It also highlights strengths that you can develop and great strategies to manage your weaknesses.
Because the biggest by-product of building your personal brand?
Confidence.
The self-awareness you gain from going through the personal branding process transforms into self-assuredness.
And as your brand begins to pay off, (with opportunities, acknowledgment, accolades, money) you become more and more comfortable in your own shoes.
Because that’s just evidence stacking up to support your belief in yourself that you created with your personal brand.
And that’s the best kind of wealth there is.
It’s likely that you know people in your life or organization who have strong brands, and you’ve probably witnessed them enjoying many of these benefits.
So why not enjoy a few of them yourself?
In order to become a dynamic leader with a great personal brand, (who makes more money) you need to trust yourself. And in order to trust yourself, you have to know yourself.
Because when you get this right, you’ll understand that even though you won’t get everything perfect on the first try, it’s still worth it to start. And it’s worth it to help build something that goes with you everywhere and makes you far more bankable.
In my 6-week intensive, Wonderbrand, a strong personal brand is one of the main things that I help offbeat leaders create so they can go from Freaked-out Doer to Confident Boss.
We also work on messaging, subconscious blocks, and ownership/ self-responsibility. DM me if interested and we’ll have a quick chat to see if it’s fit.
