HOW TO GET PEOPLE TO DO WHAT YOU WANT, WITHOUT COERCION AND MANIPULATION

The ability to influence and persuade is arguably one of the most critical skills for success. In our current world, success in any aspect, whether business, career, leadership, or even study, is determined by relationships between you and other people. Being able to influence and persuade people to do certain things is a life skill that, once developed, will put you on the path to success.
However, a challenge that many of us faces is how to influence and persuade others without coming across as coercive or even manipulative. Here are a few ideas.
1. Present the facts in a calm, unbiased, rational manner, which will boost your credibility, and hence your influence
2. Always seek to treat others with respect, acceptance and appreciation
3. Convince and persuade through using third party evidence (which is why testimonials from existing or past customers works so well in sales)
As Les Giblin said, “Everyone hungers for appreciation and acceptance. If you can genuinely provide these you will have the key to human influence.”
