In the “5 second Rule” written by Mel Robbins she shares excellent points on how to be successful in your everyday life and achieve everything you wish to achieve!A very short rundown of the 5 second rule is training yourself to take action whether you want to or not. The 5 second rule would entail taking action within 5 seconds of a thought..
For example;
You are sitting on the couch watching your favorite show and you think to yourself “I should probably get my laundry thrown into the dryer before it gets too late”… GET UP AND DO IT. Count down from 5 and before you get to 1, begin your efforts towards your task.
Now washing laundry sounds like a small achievement but its the small achievements that lead up to healthy habits and larger achievements. It starts with the thought, but without action, there will be no success.
Why 5 seconds? Failing to act within 5 seconds leaves your mind time to talk you out of it; Meaning perhaps “not having dry clothes for the morning.”
I challenge you to use the 5 second rule for one task a day for one week; and make note of your successes!
