We have all heard the famous phrase that says marriage takes work. It is true, but working on your marriage doesn't have to be a chore!
If any of you have ever played an instrument, you know it takes daily practice and discipline to perfect your skill. Marriage is no different, except for the fact that there is no bullet proof guide on how to have a successful and meaningful union.
Sure, there are many self help books claiming they can teach you how to make your marriage work. The truth is each marriage is unique, and you have to treat it as such in order for it to work and give you the satisfaction you are looking for in life.
Step one, keep it simple: People tend to overtalk in their marriages; listening to your partner is the key to a happy marriage. I am not in any way implying that you have to do what your partner says all the time. Simply put, listen and acknowledge their feelings first before speaking. It sounds easy, but it’s actually a hard thing to do if you have a habit of overspeaking. It takes discipline and practice to listen, but that’s where you start.
