FLIP IT FROM TO ME TO FOR ME.

In the midst of radical changes, one client flips her views and mindset to be present to herself, and set her boundaries with her values.
An introverted leader had been asked to speak at her SVP’s staff meeting to propose a new key business initiative. At the same time, her home is damaged from a recent storm. Another leader unexpectedly was pinged by a recruiter to join a High-Tech startup and he’s tempted since his new VP is tough to work for. Too, he hasn’t had a vacation in over a year and he’s burned out. Still another leader just learned her boss is demoting her and her mind is summersaulting with what does this mean to me, my family, my future. And an executive is negotiating a material salary increase and job promotion as she doubts her value contribution. It’s easy to react right away when you are hurt, angry, feeling not enough, or in constant overwhelm.
Whatever the dilemma, I ask, “what do you need in this moment? How do you want to be present to yourself?”
A pause moment for one client. She wants to slow her mind and pace to ground herself and sift through what is real and what’s not. She wants some space in nature so she can look at the positive even in the negative. She reminds herself of her values to set boundaries and decide what’s next. We zoom out to see other views and angles. A magical answer appears for one client. “I want to shift my thinking- it’s not happening to me; it’s happening for me.” And over time, she uses this practice of being present to herself.
