Why do I call myself a Success Coach?

It's frustrating when the "experts" don't agree with each other. Follow along on my journey of discovery as it relates to marketing.
So I am a little frustrated today. I have spent a lot of time thinking about who I am, what work I do and how I want to and actually do show up in this world. I choose to call myself a Success Coach because I want each and every one of my clients to discern what Success means for them and how to make active choices to live into that Success each day. I feel really good about this, it resonates on a soul level for me. So why the frustration?
Well, like any small business owner, I need clients, sales so to speak, to stay alive and thriving. Success for me is connecting with the right individuals who are in need of my support in their growth journey. My clients are very much in a niche, I work with Non-profit Executives and Small Business Owners. You are who show up for me and I am filled with gratitude for the work I do with this group of committed and engaged individuals. Because my skill set is in the work I do, not in owning and running a small business, I struggle with marketing, that sales thing that always feels a little icky to me. I am proud of my background and work, so it’s not the product, it is very much the process.
So, like many of you, I outreach to learn, figure out how to improve me skills and comfort in this area. I work on this with my coach too just so you know. This brings me to my frustration. In a class on building my marketing strategy yesterday I was told that calling myself a Success Coach is nonsense, will never generate clients because no one knows what this is and I am just talking words that go no where. Talk about a kick in the gut. So now I am doing the human thing and stressing over is everything I have done to present myself to the world wrong? Can you, the people who I know I can serve not see me because of this title? If so, what else does it need to say? I can call myself and Executive Coach, but really, what’s the difference?
This marketing expert says I need to tell you the problems I can help you solve, that’s what will attract you to me. So here they are:
· Do you find it difficult to articulate your goals?
· Are you having trouble envisioning the future you want?
· Do you know what success looks like to you?
· Do you have a space to freely explore your big questions without judgment?
· Do you feel like your life is out of balance?
· Are you living a life that is true to you?
· Do you need a thinking partner to support your day-to-day decision-making?
My work with Executives touches all of these points. You are more than just your career, you are a whole human being who needs to understand how to be in all aspects of your life. So yes, I am going to continue to claim my title of Success Coach. I am going to continue to show up for you in support of how you want to expand your presence at work and outside of work.
I am honored for the trust my clients have extended to me and look forward to the new clients that feel called to work with me. Thank you!
