How can you make sure that you’re irreplaceable at work? Here’s a thread to help you understand how you can do that:

• Make Decisions With Patience
Don’t overthink your decisions, give yourself a moment to think. Decide what you think is right, not others. As a Career Story Coach for aspiring C- suite executives,I have always encouraged them to take an action after any meeting to keep the decision alive.

• Ask Questions
Learn how to ask great questions, and make the move forward. Don’t ask because it is needed, but required.

• Learn Everyday
Start upskilling, don’t stop learning any day. Outpace your peers with your learning each time.A career is a long game and hence building your muscle is an activity forever. Hence I enrol in long term spaced consultations with my clients.

• Forget ‘Perfect’
Don’t chase perfection, it’s a myth. Ship at 70%, Analyze the results and improve after every work.

• Record 3 Daily Highlights
List the top three things, you should do every day. If that’s done, you have already made a win!

• Treat It As Art
Your work is your art, be proud of it. Never let anyone demean what you do, and stop doing it when it overpowers you. Treat your career as a craft and problems as projects, then what happens is career becomes a ground for storytelling your work. Try it.

• Build a Side Hustle
Start learning things outside your sphere, take things off others’ burden. Inspire others to do the same.

You become indispensable at work, when you love what you do, and wish to keep doing it!
